Rob Kirbyson at Evesham Arts Centre - 'Animal Magnetism'
Rob - April 30th, 2008Rob has an exhibition entitled 'Animal Magnetism' installed at Evesham Arts Centre - Next to Prince Henry's School. The exhibition will run until the end of July and works on display will be changed over periodically. Rob officially takes over as Exhibition Coordinator for Evesham Arts Centre after refurbishment in August 2008.
Copyright, artists, and orphan works
mike - April 26th, 2008There has been a lot of discussion recently on various forums about a US 'orphan works' bill, and the impact it will have on photographers and artists whose work is visible on the internet. One site that's trying to bring the links together and summarise is Copyright Action
In essence this bill will allow anyone who cannot determine the owner of the copyright of an image found on the internet (or elsewhere) to use it without penalty, and also sets up commercial registries that artists in the US are expected to register their copyright works with (at a price). If this passes in the US, similar legislation is likely to follow in other countries, despite the fact that it flies in the face of the Berne convention on international copyright that most countries are signatories to.
One thing artists should consider doing is adding copyright metadata to the jpeg images they upload onto the internet, and to check how to upload in such a way that the hosting site does not remove the metadata.

Dedham is situated on the Essex/Suffolk border, 1 mile off the A12 between Colchester and Ipswich on the banks of the River Stour. Open 10.00am – 5.00pm every day. Free entrance. Rogue Gene at Kidderminster - 'Multiculture'
Rob - March 18th, 2008Rogue Gene have an exhibition at Kidderminster Library Gallery until March 29th 2008. We chose the venue as it is one of the most attractive gallery settings in the Library Service, completely on its own floor. 23 works are on display from all the members on this site. The exhibition is called 'Multiculture' with examples of Fine Art photograpy, Abstract and Geometric painting, contemporary oils and acrylics and abstracts taken from natural codes.

Andrea - March 4th, 2008Rogue Gene Collective's associated collective Art4Essex are currently exhibiting paintings at Baker Tilly, Chelmsford, Essex. Andrea Farmer, Jenny Day, Gemma Climpson, Douglas Payne and Susie Pearson are exhibiting fourteen artworks in these prestigious corporate surroundings. The exhibition runs from Monday 3rd March until Friday 30th May 2008. 10% of all sales will be donated to charity.
Rob Kirbyson - About Face (1). Evesham Arts Centre. March/April 08
Rob - February 13th, 2008Rob will be exhibiting contemporary portraiture at Evesham Arts Centre between February 23rd and April 26th in an exhibition entitled 'About Face (1)'. Another About Face exhibition will take place in Evesham at a different venue later in the year with entirely different paintings.
Rob Kirbyson - "Beasts" Solo at Pershore Library Gallery. February 08
Rob - January 10th, 2008Rob will be exhibiting a solo exhibition of animal studies at Pershore Library Gallery throughout February. The exhibition will be called "Beasts" and will feature mostly artwork not exhibited in Worcestershire previously. Twelve works will be on display.

RGC exhibition at the Colne Gallery, Colchester, Essex
Andrea - November 26th, 2007Rogue Gene Collective currently have sixteen artworks on display in a group exhibition at the Colne Gallery, Colchester General Hospital, Essex. All the artworks are for sale with 20% being donated to the hospital and NHS. The exhibition is open from Monday 26th November 2007 until Saturday 5th January 2008.

ABERDOUR FESTIVAL 2007 - ARTS EXHIBITION
Kos - July 23rd, 2007The Rogue Gene Collective and the The Art Collective Scotland will be exhibiting jointly at the annual art exhibition held during the Aberdour Festival, Aberdour, Fife - 27-29 July 2007. The venues are a mix of local homes, shops, offices, churches and galleries.
The venue allocated to the RGC and ACS is St Fillan's Church Hall, High Street, Aberdour. Opening times are Friday, (preview night) 6-10pm, Saturday 11am - 6pm, Sunday 12 noon - 5pm. Entry to all exhibitions is free.
Art at The Meadows - Art4Essex - Rogue Gene Collective
Andrea - July 18th, 2007Artists from Art4Essex and the Rogue Gene Collective will be holding an exhibition of affordable artworks under the atrium at The Meadows Shopping Centre, 45-47 High Street, Chelmsford, Essex on Saturday 21st July 2007.
The mall is open from 9.00am until 6.00pm and you will be able to meet some of the artists involved in these groups and chat to them about their work. There will be a variety of artworks for sale including abstract, landscape, seascape, sunset, still life and figurative works in many mediums. Admission is free.

Rob at Ross-on-Wye - 'Beyond The Concrete'
Rob - July 10th, 2007Rob will have an exhibition at Ross - On - Wye Library's Dennis Potter Gallery (Cantilupe Road), 17th to 31st July 2007. This will be a more compact variant of 'Beyond The Concrete' which was exhibited in Pershore Number 8 in May and June. There will be new larger works included for this exhibition and fewer smaller works. Installation shots of the Pershore exhibition can be seen on Rob's own site (see Biography).
Charity Art Auction in aid of Farleigh Hospice

Two current rogue gene collective Artists ( Kos Marton and John Boyle ) are happy to be among the founder members of this new and exciting development. With ever increasing links between such sites, where fellow Artists can integrate and help each other promote their Art, a National network of self managed Artists will soon be possible.

... this is an exhibition of original postcard sized pictures donated by the famous and not so famous - all on sale for £25 each - but the artist's identity is a secret until the pictures are sold.
The exhibition will take place over 3 days from 22nd May to 24th May 2007 at Kensington & Chelsea College, Hortensia Road, SW10 0SR.
All money raised will go towards the West London Action for Children 90th Anniversary Appeal Fund.
In 2007, WLAC celebrates its 90th birthday with a special Birthday Appeal, of which Postcards Anon is a key part. Demand for the parent and child counselling and therapy services offered by WLAC has never been greater, which is why fundraising has never been more important.

Kosana Marton - The Muir Maxwell Trust Exhibition
Kos - May 6th, 2007The Muir Maxwell Trust is a charity that supports children with severe epilepsy. Kosana is one of several artists taking part in this fundraising event which runs from Friday 4 May until Sunday 6 May 2007.

Kos - April 17th, 2007'Art at the airport is an exhibition of art work dedicated to showing some of Scotland's finest talent. Andrea - January 29th, 2007Andrea will be holding a solo show of her smaller paintings in May 2007 at the Civic Theatre, Fairfield Road, Chelmsford, Essex.
Looking forward to July - August 2008, Andrea has been selected to show her work at The Gallery @ Chelmsford Library. The exhibition is entitled 'Landscapes 2 Seascapes' and will feature some larger sunset, landscape and seascape paintings. Mike Finley appointed Resident Photographer at Lower Moss Wood
mike - December 11th, 2006Mike Finley is delighted to report that he has been appointed the Resident Photographer at the Lower Moss Wood wildlife hospital in Cheshire. Mike has been a volunteer at Lower Moss Wood for some time, building and running the organisation's website, and is also a member of the 'Friends of Lower Moss Wood' support group.
One result of this appointment will be the availability of a range of photographic prints related to the work of Lower Moss Wood with a large percentage of the price going to the Lower Moss Wood funds. More details will be added when this is properly set up.
