Temagami II
30 x 30 inches. Acrylic on a deep edge box canvas. One of my new "large" range of canvases. Sunrise over the North East Arm of Lake Temagami in Canada (North of Toronto and the Algonquin National Park). I was on a six day canoe expedition in the wilderness and this is a painting based on a photograph taken on the last morning. We'd camped out under the stars and were cooking breakfast on a sun-warmed rock listening to the gentle lap of water against the shore. There were no other sounds at all apart from the breeze rustling the leaves in the trees. I look at this painting and it transports me back to that moment. The painting continues round the edges of this chunky edge box canvas so it is ready to hang with no need for framing. This creates a very simple but effective style.
