Green Opulence 2
Gold Opulence 2 is a very textural abstract acrylic painting. It is made up of just two colours - Sap Green and Old Gold. The thick consistency of the gold paint helped in creating the textured pattern. The design was created by selecting certain areas of the image in which to apply the different colours. I then simply squeezed the paint straight from the tube onto that particular area and used a palette knife to move the paint around and create the peaks and troughs within each area. Some areas of applied paint were mixed together whilst others were left just as one colour, without cleaning the knife in between working on the different areas. There are obvious variations in the level of the peaks, this was intentional in order to see the effect it would have on the overall painting in terms of the way the light catches it. This is a purely abstract painting, not intended to portray any particular thing - in fact I would be interested to hear what it reminds you of if you like it. I do think that when viewed close-up, some parts of it resemble a brain!! I have used professional quality acrylic paints on an acrylic card, which is surrounded by a bottle green mount and framed in a glazed rustic effect frame.
