Scarlet Seduction

A vibrant piece of abstract acrylic art. This painting was designed to create impact with the deep scarlet background colour applied thickly with a brush using professional quality acrylic paints. The next stage was masking off certain areas of the red in order to create two elongated triangles in the centre of the painting. I then applied some metallic silver paint in this area using a paletter knife. Once that was dry I used a dropper to paint several splashes of bight red along the silver area. I also made some zig-zag lines in between the silver triangles using a silver acrylic paint from a fine nozzle. The dots of silver at the top and bottom end of the main image were done in the same manner. Finally I added some "bubbles" of red acrylic ink which I then outlined in black acrylic ink using a very fine brush. Some of the red ink which I applied to the painting I left to run down the image, these were also outlined in black ink. This painting is currently being shown in an exhibition by several members of East Riding Artists at Yogi's Cafe, The Promenade, Bridlington, East Yorkshire, until the end of July 2008.
