Abstract paintings

Several artists paint abstracts either as their main 'subjects' or occasionally. Here is a selection of their work.

Behind every Cloud

Semi-abstract/surreal triptych. Semi-abstract/surreal triptych. An original oil painting by Tony Broadbent. Using vibrant colours for effect, warmth and mood, I bring this slightly surreal skyscape into your home. It is there to provide an uplift, a change and a promise of better things to come, hence the title. A technical but fun painting none the less. It makes a statement and cannot fail but to be observed, it commands attention in a nice way and is both easy and complicated. I enjoyed painting this one. Please note its size it is 84 inches wide ( 7 feet ) x 20 inches on box canvas. Oils SOLD Four more in process enquiries welcome.

Yosemite Burn

An abstract acrylic ink painting inspired by a visit to the Yosemite National Park this summer. An abstract acrylic ink painting inspired by a visit to the Yosemite National Park this summer. In certain areas of the Yosemite National Park, the rangers have controlled burns of the ponderosa pine trees. I thought the burnt out shapes of these trees were ideal for a painting set against an orange sky. I have deliberately let some of the black specks of ink splash against the sky area, in order to create the effect of burnt cinders floating in the sky. Date of completion: October 6th 2007

3 Wise Men and an Interloper

An abstract expressionist painting in acrylic, using the 3 primary colours with outlines in black. An abstract expressionist painting in acrylic, using the 3 primary colours with outlines in black. Influenced by Picasso's painting "The Three Dancers", I have used the three primary colours in order to represent the 3 different elements in this painting. However, as the painting progressed, I noticed another "figure" appeared in the background, so I decided to use him as well! This is a departure from my usual style of work, but something which I enjoyed doing. Size 12 x 16 inches
