Biography

Tony Broadbent is artist who paints mainly original fine art and abstract art in oils. His pieces cover the traditional landscape., sunsets and sunrises, figures as well as mood setting paintings. Some are easy works to appreciate, some others are extra large pieces based upon a theme - usually the conditon of Man, his Religion and modern times.

His work is best displayed on plain colour large expanse walls and is suitable for both minimalist and featured positioning. Mostly painted on box canvas Gallery style canvasses, he delights in engaging in the larger and extra large pieces - employing rich texture, impasto and wash and underwash techniques, physically utilising the whole experience as in the traditional abstract expressionism style of the USA of the 1950's, though with a modern twist and interpretation.

Conversly, he is equally happy painting with very small brushes and doing detailed fine art.

The first to admit, he can be passionate, moody, serious and jocular about his art and having been painting for near on 40 years as learnt to forget a lot. His unique work has been recognised as a departure from the mundane...though he does 'normal stuff' as well.

Bold vibrancy to calm imagery are the signature of his work. His works are held in many private collections and he is gaining an International following both locally in London and in Spain, the USA and Italy to name a few.

This year he is starting a Nude retro-spective, not having painted the subject in some 25 years, it is time to re-visit the genre and utilise all styles from classical to modern abstract in acrylic and oils.
