Small Square Organic

Abstract.This is a multi-layered technique and a wasteful way of painting but to good effect. It consists of an overall 3 tone underwash, then swathes of straight from the tube oils are applied then wiped away in a circular motion, time and time again until the structure forms and a shape is seen in depth, then a couple more half tubes of paint are applied leving risen Impasto edges and bright and darkness - wonderful. Curves

Abstract - figurative Acrylic 30 inches wide x 40inches deep Portrait on deep box canvas. Curves is about form and structure. Male and female. The background which appears not be so significant - at first appraisal is actually built up of layer upon layer of soft and heavy bushstrokes - thinned and thin to thick applications of impasto paint. Once close to the painting and ignoring the female form you find structure of straight lines, angles - ' blocked in ' spaces of solid colour, each washed over yet findable and definable. Areas in relief are discovered by observation or by the change of light of the day, revealing a background which moves and has a purpose in the structure of the whole. In stark contrast we have the plain yet simple and beautiful form of the naked female. Please note the figure is lifesize. Funky Flesh

This is a masterful painting showing visually and physically the strengths of blending in one, yes one direction. Usually blenders hide their skill, I show it in this one. Sorry but no apologies, if you know your stuff - I'm letting this go cheap. This painting has life it never fails to entrance. Reluctant sale but art is also alive and we must move on. Besides all that it is a beautiful painting. Truth. The jpeg does not do full justice to the actual work.

It is that with which we observe we change - a Socialogical construct which holds truth through the development of mankind and the technology he uses to change the enviroment.

Down to a Sunless Sea

An original acrylic painting by Tony Broadbent. Please note the size of this piece of work - it is 5 feet wide x 4 feet deep on a 3 inch box canvas. It is a Sunset over a turbulent Sea. Inspired by the poem Kubla Khan. The whole painting is covered in deep, tangible, impasto rich, pure acrylic paint straight from the tube - placed, painted and arranged in thick swaithes, dabs, marks, grooves over and over again layering and forming the substrate and background. The paint is placed on in such a way that the image is seen complete with all the interference and substance/substrate interacting and can be appreciated. A semi- impressionist painting. It is a tangible and significant piece of work - I have some final touch's to do to complete it and it is still drying, however the work is complete enough to display - enquiries are welcome. Abstract InternalismAn original oil on 24 x 24 inch Box canvas. This painting is one of a series I did which has been themed as Abstract Internalism. It is a self expressive style of painting where the artist attempts to internailise feelings by the medium of paint. Different to abstract expressionism where the actual action of painting donates the mood of the art in action - this way is the anti-thesis where the mood is none violent, nor overly expressive but the opposite, quiet, reflective, internal - perhaps a mood of peace, solitude. A calm which transferes the mood in a different way, easier on the eye and feel to the observer. Original concept - perhaps?

The First Step

Abstract.An original oil on 24 x 24 Box canvas. I rarely venture to paint with Dominant red and green hues however as I was painting this it took on an almost spiritual element like auto-writing but auto-painting as if guided by an unseen force. This is titled so due to the journey as I found myself almost being a passenger to the will of an unseen yet comfortably close spirit. When completed I did not know I had but just stopped and knew it was done and the unseen had departed happy. Sounds spooky but true.You can stare for ages at this one and see more and more each time. You would never tire of it. I suspect that the one who does buy this knows it was meant for them, they'll just 'feel' it.

The Adolescent. This is a study of a younger adult female - taken from a side aspect and more full including arms an outline of hand. Size - 20 wide x 40 inches long on Box Canvas. Acrylic. Not for sale at the moment.

Iraq

Abstract theme/statement. A new original oil by Tony Broadbent 40 x 30 inches on box canvas Title - Iraq I just wanted to say or do something to make a commentary upon Iraq - nothing political or injudicious to anyone but something recognisable as perhaps an essence of what a middle east state represents, its underlying culture and feel. This piece in the true tradition does not 'represent a person or a living thing that is recognisable, I feel that it is in tune with Muslim values and gives no offence. Behind every Cloud

Semi-abstract/surreal triptych. An original oil painting by Tony Broadbent. Using vibrant colours for effect, warmth and mood, I bring this slightly surreal skyscape into your home. It is there to provide an uplift, a change and a promise of better things to come, hence the title. A technical but fun painting none the less.
